Within its Global Banking unit, the company provides a full spectrum of corporate lending, encompassing commercial loans, leases, credit facilities, trade finance, and both commercial real estate and asset-backed financing. Its treasury services cover cash management, foreign exchange, short-term investment strategies, and merchant processing. Additionally, it aids clients with working capital optimization, capital markets activities such as debt and equity underwriting and distribution, and merger and acquisition advisory. The Global Markets segment handles diverse capital markets operations, including market-making, financing, and robust securities clearing, settlement, and custody. It also provides advanced risk management instruments, leveraging derivatives across interest rate, equity, credit, currency, and commodity sectors, alongside foreign exchange, fixed-income, and mortgage-backed products. By the end of 2021, the company catered to roughly 67 million consumer and small business customers, supported by a vast network of approximately 4,200 retail financial centers, around 16,000 ATMs, and digital banking platforms utilized by roughly 41 million active users. Tracing its origins to 1784, Bank of America maintains its corporate headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina.
