Winston Score History

The full picture

FTAI Aviation leases jet engines and aircraft to airlines around the world. Its most important product is the CFM56 engine, which powers some of the most common passenger jets flying today, like the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320. FTAI also repairs and sells engine modules, making it one of the few companies focused almost entirely on engine leasing and maintenance rather than whole aircraft.

The company earns money two ways: collecting lease payments from airlines that rent its engines, and selling repaired engine parts and modules to carriers that need them. FTAI operates globally, serving commercial airlines across North America, Europe, and beyond, with a market cap around $20.7 billion. Its focus on the CFM56 engine gives it deep expertise and a large inventory of parts that competitors cannot easily replicate. The main risk is that airlines are gradually replacing older CFM56-powered jets with newer aircraft, which could reduce long-term demand for this engine type over time.

FTAI Aviation is growing revenue at 41% year-over-year. The Winston Score penalises unprofitable companies, but revenue at this pace tells a different story — this is a company still in "build mode."

The Winston Score above measures business quality today. Growth stocks often score lower because they invest in the future rather than maximising current profits. These metrics show what matters most for evaluating that future.
