Winston Score History

The full picture

General Electric (now operating as GE Aerospace) makes jet engines and aviation systems for commercial airlines and military customers around the world. Its engines power planes made by Boeing and Airbus, and it is one of the two largest jet engine makers on the planet, alongside CFM International — a joint venture it runs with France's Safran. The company also provides maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for the engines it sells.

GE Aerospace earns money two ways: selling new engines upfront and then collecting recurring revenue from long-term service contracts as airlines keep those engines running for decades. It operates globally, with customers across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, and generates well over $30 billion in annual revenue. Its biggest competitive advantage is the massive installed base of engines already flying, which locks in decades of high-margin service work. The main risk is that a slowdown in air travel demand or aircraft production delays at Boeing could reduce both new engine orders and aftermarket revenue.
