Winston Score History

The full picture

Investcorp Credit Management BDC is a business development company (BDC) that lends money to small and mid-sized private businesses in the United States. Instead of making products, it acts like a specialized bank, providing loans and sometimes taking small ownership stakes in companies that cannot easily borrow from traditional banks. It is managed by Investcorp, a global alternative investment firm, which oversees the day-to-day lending decisions.

The company earns money primarily through interest payments on the loans it makes to borrower companies, a model common to all BDCs. It operates mainly in the U.S. middle market and is a relatively small player in the BDC space, with a market cap under $100 million. By law, BDCs must pay out most of their income as dividends to shareholders, which makes them sensitive to interest rate changes and credit losses — the biggest risk here is that borrower companies default on their loans during an economic downturn, which could significantly reduce income and erode the portfolio's value.

Revenue declining

Investcorp Credit Management BDC's revenue is actually shrinking. In a growth stock, that removes the core investment thesis. The low Winston Score here may be warranted — unless there's a turnaround story.

The Winston Score above measures business quality today. Growth stocks often score lower because they invest in the future rather than maximising current profits. These metrics show what matters most for evaluating that future.
