Winston Score History

The full picture

Pan American Silver Corp is one of the largest silver mining companies in the world. It digs silver, gold, zinc, lead, and copper out of the ground at mines spread across Latin America and Canada. The company sells these metals to refiners, smelters, and industrial buyers who use them in electronics, jewelry, solar panels, and other products.

Pan American makes money by selling the metals it mines — revenue goes up when metal prices rise and down when they fall. Most of its mines are in Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Chile, and Canada, making it a geographically diverse but politically exposed business. The company's main competitive advantage is its large, low-cost reserve base built up over decades. The biggest risk it faces is the price of silver and gold, which it cannot control — a sharp drop in metal prices would quickly squeeze profits even if operations run smoothly.

The Winston Score above measures business quality today. Growth stocks often score lower because they invest in the future rather than maximising current profits. These metrics show what matters most for evaluating that future.
