Winston Score History

The full picture

RHI Magnesita makes refractory products — special heat-resistant bricks, linings, and materials that go inside industrial furnaces and kilns. These materials are essential for making steel, cement, glass, and other metals, because without them, the extreme heat would destroy the furnace walls. The company is one of the largest refractory producers in the world, serving heavy industries across more than 35 countries.

The company earns money by selling these refractory products and also offering installation and maintenance services to industrial customers. It operates globally, with major production sites in Europe, South America, and Asia, and generates roughly $3–4 billion in annual revenue. Its competitive edge comes from controlling a large share of its own raw material supply, particularly magnesite ore, which is the key ingredient in many refractories. The biggest risk the company faces is its heavy dependence on the steel industry, which is cyclical and sensitive to global economic slowdowns and shifts toward electric arc furnace technology.
