Winston Score History

The full picture

Sibanye Stillwater is a South African mining company that digs precious metals out of the ground. Its main products are platinum, palladium, rhodium, and gold — metals used in car exhaust systems, jewelry, electronics, and industrial processes. It is one of the largest platinum group metals (PGM) producers in the world, with major mining operations in South Africa and the United States.

The company makes money by selling these metals to refiners, automakers, and industrial buyers at market prices, so its revenue rises and falls with commodity prices. Sibanye operates across South Africa's Bushveld Complex and Montana's Stillwater mines, making it geographically diversified compared to most peers. Its moat comes from owning some of the world's richest PGM ore bodies, which are rare and hard to replicate. The key risk is that PGM prices — especially palladium and rhodium — have fallen sharply in recent years as the auto industry shifts toward battery electric vehicles, which do not use catalytic converters.

Revenue accelerating

The Winston Score above measures business quality today. Growth stocks often score lower because they invest in the future rather than maximising current profits. These metrics show what matters most for evaluating that future.
