Winston Score History

The full picture

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) makes the tiny chips that power almost every modern electronic device — smartphones, computers, cars, and AI servers. It does not design its own chips; instead, it manufactures chips designed by other companies like Apple, Nvidia, and AMD. TSMC is the world's largest contract chipmaker, controlling roughly half of the global foundry market.

TSMC earns money each time a customer pays it to fabricate chips in its factories, called fabs. It operates primarily in Taiwan, with newer facilities being built in the United States, Japan, and Germany to reduce geographic concentration risk. Its main competitive advantage is its ability to manufacture chips at the smallest, most advanced sizes in the world — a capability very few companies can match. The biggest growth driver is surging demand for AI chips, while the biggest risk remains geopolitical tension between Taiwan and China, which could disrupt its operations.

The Winston Score above measures business quality today. Growth stocks often score lower because they invest in the future rather than maximising current profits. These metrics show what matters most for evaluating that future.
