Winston Score History

The full picture

TomCo Energy is a small British energy company focused on developing oil shale resources in the United States, specifically in Utah. Its main asset is a lease on land in the Uinta Basin, where it is working to extract oil from shale rock using a technology called Thermal Assisted Gravity Drainage (TAGD). The company has not yet produced oil commercially and is still in the early development and testing stage.

TomCo does not currently generate meaningful revenue, which explains its zero gross margin and deeply negative returns. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange's AIM market and has a very small market capitalization. The company depends on raising outside capital to fund its operations and technology trials, which is a significant ongoing risk. Its future depends almost entirely on whether its extraction technology can be proven to work at a commercial scale, and on oil prices remaining high enough to make Utah oil shale economically viable.

Cash watch

TomCo Energy has less than a year of cash at its current burn rate. Growth investors should watch for potential share dilution from future fundraising — that directly reduces your ownership.

The Winston Score above measures business quality today. Growth stocks often score lower because they invest in the future rather than maximising current profits. These metrics show what matters most for evaluating that future.
