The full picture

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) is a technology and IT services company that works almost entirely for the U.S. federal government. It helps agencies like the Department of Defense, intelligence community, and civilian agencies run complex computer systems, manage data, and handle cybersecurity. SAIC is one of the largest government IT contractors in the United States.

SAIC makes money by winning long-term government contracts, then billing for labor, software, and managed services over the life of those contracts. Nearly all of its revenue comes from U.S. government clients, making it heavily concentrated in one customer base. The company's main competitive advantage is its deep security clearances and long-standing relationships with federal agencies, which are hard for new competitors to replicate quickly. The biggest risk SAIC faces is federal budget uncertainty — if Congress cuts defense or IT spending, contract awards can slow or shrink, directly pressuring revenue growth.
